      Crowley ISD Mourns the Loss of MSGT Gene Bass in Tragic Fort Worth Shooting

      Fort Worth, TX – The Crowley Independent School District (CISD) has confirmed that Master Sergeant Gene Bass was the victim of a fatal shooting that took place on Friday in Fort Worth. MSGT Bass served as a JROTC instructor at North Crowley High School (NCHS), and the news of his passing has left the community in deep sorrow.

      In an email sent to North Crowley High School families, CISD expressed profound sadness over the loss, especially for those who knew MSGT Bass personally. The district released a heartfelt video showcasing his dedication to the JROTC program, underscoring his significant impact as a beloved staff member at NCHS. MSGT Bass was described as an exceptional educator and colleague, known for his positive influence on both students and staff.

      The tragic incident occurred around 2:25 p.m. on Friday in Fort Worth. Fort Worth Police Department officers found MSGT Bass with fatal gunshot wounds in a front yard on Chesapeake Bay Drive. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, MSGT Bass could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.

      Authorities have arrested Xavier Bass, a family member of the victim, in connection with the shooting. The suspect was apprehended in Valdosta, Georgia, by the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office. According to the police, Xavier Bass allegedly approached MSGT Bass’s residence, fired multiple shots, and then fled the scene. He is currently held on charges related to the incident in Tarrant County, Texas.

      Crowley ISD and the local community are grieving the loss of MSGT Bass, who was not only an integral part of the JROTC program but also a mentor and friend to many.
