15-Year-Old Charged in Fatal Drive-By Shooting at Fairmont Gardens Apartments

Fairfax County, VA – A 15-year-old boy is facing charges of second-degree murder and a firearms offense in connection with a drive-by shooting that resulted in the death of 14-year-old Elvis Anderson Grande Gonzalez and the injury of a 16-year-old boy. The 16-year-old driver involved in the incident has also been charged as an accomplice.

The shooting occurred at the Fairmont Gardens apartments on Little River Turnpike around 11:15 p.m. on Friday. Fairfax County police have yet to identify the motive behind the attack. The 14-year-old victim, Gonzalez, was fatally shot in the back and pronounced dead at the hospital. The 16-year-old victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, sustained a gunshot wound to the lower body but is expected to recover.

Security camera footage from a nearby home captured the moment shots were fired at a group of teenagers gathered on the sidewalk from a car. The video shows the teens fleeing for cover as multiple shots were discharged. Gonzalez can be seen falling to the ground, while the injured 16-year-old boy seeks refuge near a dumpster.

A relative of Elvis, who chose to remain anonymous, mentioned that she had previously cautioned him about certain friends. “I feel so terrible. Awful,” expressed a relative of Elvis. Witnesses observed a gray sedan speeding away from the scene immediately after the shooting. Local residents have highlighted drug dealing as a prevalent issue in the area and have expressed concerns about their safety.

Residents do not believe that Elvis was the intended target. Fairfax County police have confirmed that the victims were walking together when a vehicle approached and shots were fired. Investigators do not believe the shooting was a random act and are encouraging the community to review any home surveillance footage that could aid in the inquiry.
