Man Faces Multiple Charges After Fatal Fourth of July Road Rage Incident in Carroll County

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) has reported that a man faces several charges following a fatal shooting during a road rage incident on the Fourth of July. Deputies responded to the intersection of Bear Run Road and Runnymede Road, near Taneytown, after receiving reports of a shooting on Thursday. Upon arrival, authorities found 36-year-old Christopher Patrick Moore II dead from gunshot wounds.

The investigation revealed that the incident began as a road rage altercation on Route 140 involving 20-year-old Davon Joseph Dabbs of Taneytown, another man, and Moore. The road rage incident escalated into a physical confrontation near Bear Run Road. During the altercation, Moore’s fiancé arrived at the scene with her legally owned firearm and announced she was armed. Dabbs allegedly ran toward her and struck her, prompting her to shoot him in the leg.

The situation further deteriorated when Dabbs reportedly took the gun from Moore’s fiancé and struck her multiple times in the face. He then fired several shots, injuring another man in the hand and hitting Moore twice in the chest. Moore’s fiancé sustained a broken jaw and head and facial injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment. Dabbs and the other injured man were also transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Following the incident, Dabbs was arrested on July 6 and faces multiple charges, including murder in the first degree, assault in the first degree (two counts), and assault in the second degree (two counts). Dabbs was taken to Carroll County Central Booking. This tragic incident underscores the severe consequences of road rage and the escalation of violence, leaving the community in shock and mourning the loss of Christopher Patrick Moore II.
