Fatal Collision in Beauregard Parish Claims Lives of Two Men

Louisiana State Police (LSP) announced a tragic collision that occurred on Friday, July 12, in Beauregard Parish, resulting in the deaths of Ellory “Butch” Burgess Jr., 59, of Longville, and Cody Goode, 29, of Dry Creek. The fatal crash happened on U.S. 171 near Willow Branch Road around 5 p.m.

LSP Troop D responded to the scene and began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. According to their findings, Burgess was driving a dump truck south on the highway when the vehicle unexpectedly veered off the road. The dump truck plunged into a ditch, tipped onto its right side, and slid into several trees.

Both Burgess and Goode, who were not wearing seatbelts, were ejected from the vehicle upon impact. They sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.
