Three Local Residents Killed in Tragic Chemung County Car Collision

CHEMUNG, N.Y. — A devastating two-car accident on Interstate 86 eastbound resulted in the deaths of three local residents on Friday, July 19, 2024. The collision, which occurred around 4:51 p.m., involved a head-on crash between a 2018 Nissan Maxima and a 2015 Acura RDX. The New York State Police have identified the deceased as Steven A. Mallory, 36, from Horseheads, N.Y.; Colin J. Ferrell, 18; and Tiffany Ferrell, 44, both from Endicott, N.Y.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the Nissan Maxima, driven by Steven Mallory, was traveling westbound on Interstate 86 when it suddenly crossed the median into the eastbound lanes. The Maxima then collided head-on with the Acura RDX, which was driven by Colin Ferrell and had Tiffany Ferrell as a passenger. Both occupants of the Acura were killed instantly upon impact.

Emergency services, including the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Department of Transportation, Chemung Fire Department, Greater Valley Emergency Medical Services, and Wellsburg Fire Department, responded promptly to the scene.
