      Nabeel Aslam Lexington KY Dies in Tragic Car Accident

      Nicholasville, KY — The Islamic Society of Central Kentucky and the Rollins College Volleyball team are grieving the sudden and tragic death of Nabeel Aslam, who passed away in a car accident on Sunday, July 21, 2024. The young man, deeply cherished by his family and community, was a source of inspiration and joy to all who knew him.

      Nabeel Aslam, a beloved son of Dr. Azhar Aslam and Dr. Uzma Shireen Aslam, was remembered with profound sadness by the Islamic Society of Central Kentucky. The organization released a heartfelt statement expressing their grief: “We are very sad to announce the passing away of a young brother in our community, Nabeel Aslam. His loss has deeply impacted all of us who knew him.”

      The Islamic Society of Central Kentucky has arranged a Janazah prayer (funeral and burial) on Monday, July 22, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. at Bluegrass Memorial Garden Cemetery, located at 4915 Harrodsburg Road, Nicholasville, KY 40356. The community is invited to attend the Condolence Visitation on Tuesday, July 23, at Masjid Bilal, 1541 Russell Cave Road, Lexington, KY 40505, between ASR and Maghrib prayers. ASR Iqama will be held at 5:45 p.m. The family and friends are asking for prayers for Nabeel, hoping that Allah grants him a higher place in Jannah, and for strength to his family to bear this immense loss.

      Sayre School, where Nabeel was an alumnus, also mourns his death. “Sayre School mourns the sudden and tragic loss of Sayre alum, Nabeel Aslam ’20,” the school stated. “Nabeel, son of Dr. Azhar Aslam and Dr. Uzma Shireen Aslam, and brother to Sana Aslam ’16, passed away early this morning after a fatal car accident.”

      Nabeel’s sister, Sana Aslam, shared a moving tribute to her brother. “Nabeel — it was, and is, and will forever be, the greatest honor of my lifetime to be your big sister,” she wrote. “My mind is racing with infinite memories of your ginormous tender heart, your love for friendship, self-expression, and adventure, and your courage in always being the truest version of yourself. You made a friend (or 10) wherever you went. Your bravery and authenticity were inspiring.”

      Sana continued, “People always joked that we are opposites. You got all the good looks, athleticism, musical talent, and charisma, while I focused on getting good grades. But at the deepest level, we were soulmates. You were my fellow creative, seeker of wisdom, and true lover of people. I will always carry the inspiration I got from you in my heart.”

      The loss of Nabeel Aslam is a profound one, felt deeply by his family, friends, and the wider community. His vibrant spirit and unwavering kindness will be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
