      Resurrection Lutheran Church Mourns the Tragic Death of Gina Schaffer in motorcycle accident

      In a devastating incident, the Resurrection Lutheran Church and the entire Monticello community are mourning the loss of Gina Schaffer, a vibrant teenager who tragically lost her life in a motorcycle accident on Thursday, August 1, 2024, in Wyoming. Gina and her twin sister, Dinah Schaffer, recently graduated from Monticello High School, and their bond was well-known and cherished by many.

      On the fateful day of August 1, Gina Schaffer was involved in a severe motorcycle accident while traveling in Wyoming. The tragic incident resulted in Gina sustaining critical injuries, which she unfortunately succumbed to, marking an untimely end to a promising young life. The news of her passing has sent shockwaves through the community, leaving many in deep sorrow and disbelief.

      Gina Schaffer was a beloved sister, friend, and active member of the Monticello community. She was known for her kindness, compassion, and cheerful nature. At Monticello High School, she was heavily involved in the Monticello Unified program and various other clubs, making significant contributions and leaving a lasting impact on her peers and teachers. Her willingness to go above and beyond for others made her a cherished member of the community.

      To honor Gina’s memory and provide a space for collective mourning, Resurrection Lutheran Church is organizing a community gathering and prayer vigil tonight, August 2, from 7-10 pm. This event aims to offer a safe space for students and community members to grieve and remember Gina. Everyone, regardless of age, is welcome to attend.
