      Matt Anderson

Rapid City, SD – The community mourns the loss of Matt Anderson, a dedicated U.S. Air Force pilot and father of two, who tragically died in a car accident involving a drunk driver last week. Matt succumbed to severe injuries sustained during the crash.

Matt Anderson, a resident of Rapid City, South Dakota, was not only a reputable aircraft pilot in the U.S. Air Force but also a proud father and loving husband. Friends and family remember him as an easygoing individual who prioritized his family and service to his country. He was also a former teammate of the South Dakota State Jackrabbits football team, known for his camaraderie and spirit.

Matt’s untimely death has left a significant void in the lives of many. He was a father, brother, uncle, teammate, and friend to numerous people. His brother, James Anderson, expressed his sorrow and love through a heartfelt message: “Today on MUSICAL MONDAYS, I want to dedicate today’s playlist to my brother, Matt Anderson, who recently suffered a freak car accident resulting in major injuries. Unless a miracle happens, he will pass into Eternity today. I love you, brother. This playlist was 2 of 3 in the 💀’s and🌈’s theme.”

Leah Anderson, Matt’s niece, also shared her grief and fond memories: “From my dad’s thoughtful post. This saddens me so much. Rest in peace, Uncle. My brother Matt Anderson did not make it through his injuries. He passed into Eternity. In celebrating the spirit of how fun and pleasant he was to be around, I pay TRIBUTE to Matt by dedicating this song to him. It is not the ‘Best Song in the World’ but it is a ‘Tribute’ to it. In the spirit of ‘middle names’… every time I heard this song it says, ‘me and my brother Kyle’, which is Matt’s middle name and I predominantly go by my middle name. In the song, they slay a demon. Kind of like in the tune ‘Devil Went Down to Georgia’. I think Matthew Kyle would get a kick out of the tune.”

The tragic accident has sent waves of grief throughout the community. Matt’s commitment to his family and his country has left an indelible mark on those who knew him. His dedication as a pilot, his love for his family, and his engaging personality will be deeply missed by all.

The Anderson family is overwhelmed with support from friends, colleagues, and community members. As they navigate this heartbreaking loss, they remember Matt for his strength, kindness, and unwavering dedication to those he loved.

Matt Anderson’s legacy will live on through the memories of his loved ones and the many lives he touched during his service. The community stands united in support of his family, honoring his life and the immense contributions he made both in and out of uniform.
