Beloved Husband and Father, Jon Gooding, Passes Away After a Long Battle with Illness

Moncton, NB – The community is mourning the loss of Jon Gooding, a cherished husband and father of two, who passed away at Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton. His passing was confirmed in a heartfelt statement shared through a GoFundMe campaign, which read, “Dear Grace Bible Church Family, It is with a sorrowful heart I share the news that our dear brother, Jon Gooding, has passed away. Surrounded by family, Jon entered his eternal rest earlier this evening at Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton.”

Jon’s health journey has been fraught with challenges since 2023. His struggles began with an autoimmune disease that led to nodular regenerative hyperplasia in his liver, eventually causing hepatopulmonary syndrome. A liver transplant was identified as the only viable treatment, but the path to receiving one was a long and difficult process.

Throughout his battle, Jon faced numerous complications, including low hemoglobin, low platelets, multiple infections, and even COVID-19. His resilience shone through as he fought off life-threatening conditions, such as two brain abscesses that required emergency surgeries. Despite these ordeals, Jon defied the odds by recovering without neurological damage, showing remarkable strength throughout his journey.

Born and raised in Baden, Ontario, Jon was a graduate of Waterloo-Oxford District Secondary School in 2005. He went on to earn a business management degree from Conestoga College in 2008. Professionally, Jon made a lasting impact through his work with Fastenal. He served as a Construction Sales Account Specialist in Kitchener, Ontario, from 2008 to 2015, before transitioning to his role as Project Manager at Fastenal Canada in Blandford-Blenheim.

In July 2018, Jon married Caitlyn Gooding, marking the start of a beautiful family life together. The couple was blessed with two wonderful children, Taylor and Kobe, who were the joy of Jon’s life.

Jon’s passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who knew him. His courage and unwavering faith throughout his health struggles inspired many, while his love and dedication to his family will always be remembered. As the community rallies to support the Gooding family during this difficult time, Jon’s legacy of strength, love, and perseverance will continue to be cherished.
