      Chatham Man Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Route 6

      BREWSTER, MA — A tragic multi-vehicle accident on Route 6 in Brewster claimed the life of a Chatham man on Monday afternoon, according to Massachusetts State Police. The accident occurred around 3:15 p.m. near Exit 85, involving three vehicles and resulting in the death of 57-year-old Edward Footer.

      Footer was driving a 2006 Toyota Tundra eastbound on Route 6 when the collision happened. State Police report that a 2020 Isuzu truck, driven by a 24-year-old man traveling in the opposite direction, veered into Footer’s lane. The Isuzu truck then struck Footer’s vehicle head-on. Additionally, the Isuzu truck collided with a 1997 GMC Safari driven by a 40-year-old man from Yarmouth.

      Trooper Luis Blanco, a spokesperson for the State Police, confirmed that Footer sustained life-threatening injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The severity of the crash has deeply impacted the community, highlighting the risks associated with high-speed multi-vehicle accidents.

      The driver of the Isuzu truck, a resident of Yarmouth, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Fortunately, the driver of the GMC Safari emerged unscathed from the accident. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the crash, which remains undetermined at this time.
