One Dead, Suspect in Custody Following Shooting in Gilford

GILFORD, N.H. — A shooting at a Gilford residence on Friday night has left one person dead, and another in custody. Brian Horvath, 45, of Timber Lane, has been charged with manslaughter and reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, according to a press statement from Captain Dustin Parent of the Gilford Police Department.

Authorities were alerted to the incident around 9:46 p.m. on September 6, when a 911 call reported that someone had sustained a gunshot wound to the chest at a home on Timber Lane. Responding officers arrived to find a male victim who was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released by police.

Horvath, who resides at the location where the shooting occurred, was initially taken in for questioning. Following the investigation, he was formally charged with two felonies, including a special felony for manslaughter.
