Manhunt Underway for Gunman in Fatal East Elmhurst Shooting

EAST ELMHURST, N.Y. — An urgent manhunt is underway for the gunman who fatally shot a Forest Hills man on a quiet residential street in East Elmhurst on Wednesday afternoon. The New York Police Department is seeking the public’s help in locating the suspect as the investigation continues.

Police officers from the 115th Precinct in Jackson Heights responded to a 911 call at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Humphrey Street. Upon arrival, they discovered 43-year-old Carlos Solano lying on the grass with two gunshot wounds to his head. Emergency Medical Services quickly transported Solano to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

Solano, a resident of 62nd Drive near Flushing Meadows Corona Park, was found three miles from his home.
