Eric Rexford shot dead in Road Rage Incident in Littleton

LITTLETON, N.H. – A road rage incident turned deadly in Littleton late Monday night, September 16, when a driver fatally shot another motorist following a car chase through the streets of the New Hampshire town. Authorities have launched a homicide investigation as they work to piece together the events leading up to the tragic shooting.

The victim has been identified as 38-year-old Eric Rexford of Littleton, who died from multiple gunshot wounds. The incident, which took place shortly after 11 p.m., was triggered by a confrontation between Rexford and another driver, according to a joint statement from New Hampshire Attorney General John M. Formella, New Hampshire State Police Colonel Mark B. Hall, and Littleton Police Chief Paul J. Smith.

The Littleton Police Department received a 911 call from a man who reported being chased by another driver, later identified as Rexford. The caller alleged that Rexford had repeatedly struck his vehicle during the pursuit. Officers were dispatched to investigate, but just minutes after the call, gunshots were heard in the area of 33 Pleasant Street, where authorities found two crashed vehicles.

Upon arriving at the scene, police discovered the 911 caller and Rexford, who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. The caller identified Rexford as the person who had been chasing him and ramming his car. Despite being rushed to a local hospital, Rexford succumbed to his injuries.

Investigators have since revealed that the two men knew each other, but the exact cause of the altercation remains unclear. Authorities are working to determine what may have led to the chase and subsequent shooting.
