Marion County Deputy Arrested in Fatal Shooting of Girlfriend

The Ocala Police Department is investigating the fatal shooting of a woman involving Marion County Sheriff’s Deputy Leslie Boileau. The incident occurred on the night of September 19th when Boileau called authorities, reporting that he had accidentally shot his girlfriend at their residence. Officers arrived at the scene around 10:52 PM and found the victim with a fatal gunshot wound to her forehead. A 9mm handgun was discovered on her lap, along with a rifle present in the home.

According to Boileau, the shooting was a tragic accident. He explained to investigators that after returning from dinner, he and his girlfriend had begun cleaning their firearms. While handling the weapons, they were dry-firing them when the fatal shot was discharged. Boileau stated that he was demonstrating the use of a rifle when a live round was unintentionally fired, hitting his girlfriend.
