Tragic Accident Claims the Life of Shane Webb in Huron County

An investigation is underway following a fatal single-vehicle accident in Huron County. The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) has reported that the tragic incident occurred late Monday, June 17, at approximately 11:27 p.m. on West River Road in Wakeman. According to officials, a 2015 Jeep Wrangler, traveling southbound on West River Road, veered off the right side of the road and collided with a culvert storm drain cover.

In a press release, the Ohio State Highway Patrol stated, “The Jeep became airborne and flipped multiple times before colliding with a large raised flower bed, a fence post, and a tree. The Jeep eventually came to a stop in a private driveway on the west side of West River Road.”

The driver, identified as 37-year-old Shane Webb from Willard, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. Unfortunately, Webb sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. Preliminary investigations suggest that alcohol, drugs, and excessive speed may have contributed to the accident.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is leading the investigation with the assistance of the Huron County Sheriff’s Office, Wakeman Fire Department, Wakeman Police Department, Citizens Ambulance, and Interstate Towing. The investigation into the crash is ongoing at this time.
