USPS Mail Carrier Arrested for Discarding Over 1,000 Pieces of Mail, Including Election Ballot

A United States Postal Service (USPS) mail carrier, Ottis McCoy, has been arrested by federal authorities after allegedly discarding over 1,000 pieces of mail, including political mail and an election ballot. The arrest came following an investigation that revealed McCoy had diverted from his assigned route and discarded the mail in a wooded area.

The incident came to light when one of McCoy’s co-workers noticed he had returned unusually early from his delivery route, even though he had been assigned a significant amount of mail. This irregularity raised suspicions, prompting authorities to look into McCoy’s actions further.

An analysis of the GPS data from McCoy’s postal vehicle revealed that he had deviated from his route, leading him to a wooded lot.
