      Fatal Accident in Dryden Claims Life of Local Resident Daniel L. Heath

      On October 30, a tragic accident in the Town of Dryden resulted in the death of one individual. The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim as 63-year-old Daniel L. Heath, a resident of Dryden. This incident has left the community in mourning as they grapple with the loss of a fellow resident.

      Law enforcement personnel responded to the scene at the intersection of West Dryden Road and Sheldon Road at approximately 5:45 p.m., following reports of a two-vehicle accident involving injuries. Upon arrival, deputies began their investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.

      Preliminary findings revealed that Daniel Heath was operating his vehicle on Sheldon Road when he failed to yield at a stop sign. This failure to yield was the primary factor that led to the collision. Heath was subsequently transported to SUNY Upstate Medical Center by LifeNet, where he was tragically pronounced deceased.       The driver of the other vehicle involved in the accident sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Like Heath, this individual was also taken to Upstate Medical Center by ambulance for treatment. Assistance was provided by the Freeville Fire Department, Dryden Fire Department, Dryden Ambulance, Lansing Fire Department, and even the West Milford NJ Police Department.
