Keith Walker killed in Deadly Southern Suburbs Train Collision
Harvey, IL — Authorities have identified one of the three victims who lost their lives in a tragic collision with a freight train in Harvey on Wednesday afternoon. The deceased has been named as 32-year-old Keith A. Walker of Blue Island, Illinois.
The incident occurred at approximately 12:31 p.m. near the intersection of 152nd Street and Park Avenue, close to Thornton Township High School. Emergency responders spent roughly eight hours on the scene investigating the fatal accident and its aftermath.
According to CSX Transportation, the vehicle carrying the victims disregarded lowered crossing gates and collided with the side of a moving freight train. All three occupants of the vehicle sustained fatal injuries in the crash. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the train crew or passengers.
