The suspect, 34-year-old Gregory Ryan Miles, is currently in stable condition at a local hospital after being shot multiple times by law enforcement. He is under investigation for First Degree Murder and other charges stemming from the incident.

The shooting occurred around 6:30 a.m. when officers responded to a disturbance call at the apartment complex. Upon arrival, they heard a man, later identified as Miles, shouting from inside one of the units. Shortly after, the suspect opened fire on the responding officers, nearby apartments, and the parking lot, escalating the situation into a violent confrontation.

As the gunfire erupted, a reverse emergency notification was issued to nearby residents, instructing them to shelter in place. Several units were evacuated for safety reasons. Tragically, Aisha Quest, who was in the apartment with Miles, sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

His charges are pending as the investigation continues.

The Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) of the 17th Judicial District has taken over the investigation into the shooting, as is protocol when officers discharge their weapons. The officers involved in the incident have been placed on administrative leave while the investigation is underway. Officials have not yet released further details regarding the suspect’s motives.

Due to the severity of the incident, roads and buildings in the vicinity may remain closed for several hours. Local authorities are asking residents to report any damage or items related to the crime by contacting the non-emergency police line. Impacted residents are encouraged to seek assistance at the Broomfield Community Center, which has been set up to provide support.
