A 36-year-old man tragically lost his life early Wednesday morning after confronting a suspected car thief on the northeast side of Columbus. The incident occurred around 12:14 a.m. in the 5000 block of Princess Place, near East Dublin Granville Road, according to Columbus police.
The victim, identified as Alejandro Lopez-Lechuga, approached a white male suspect who was reportedly attempting to break into vehicles outside an apartment complex. During the confrontation, the suspect shot Lopez-Lechuga before fleeing the scene. The injured man was transported to St. Ann’s Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
