      Smithfield, Rhode Island—The Smithfield community is mourning the loss of 25-year-old Aliana Ciacciarelli, who tragically passed away on Monday night. Aliana, a dedicated nurse and beloved friend, died in a bicycle accident involving a tractor-trailer.

      According to Smithfield police, the accident occurred around 9:30 p.m. in the area of 140 Pleasant View Avenue. Aliana was riding her bicycle when she fell and was subsequently struck by a tractor-trailer. The driver of the truck did not stop, prompting an ongoing investigation. Authorities are searching for a light-colored day cab/tractor-trailer combination believed to have been in the vicinity at the time of the accident.

      Aliana Ciacciarelli was a resident of Smithfield and a native of Cranston, Rhode Island. Her passing was announced in a heartfelt social media post by a friend, which read, “I genuinely don’t think I would’ve made it through nursing school without this beautiful soul. They are not kidding when they say your cohort becomes your best friend. We made so many memories in such a brief time. Fly high Aliana Ciacciarelli. I’ll never understand why the good ones are taken so soon.”

      Aliana’s life was dedicated to helping others. She attended Cranston High School West Voc/Tech and pursued nursing at the New England Institute of Technology. Her professional career included roles as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at The Village at Waterman Lake, a Registered Nurse at Roger Williams Medical Center, and most recently, an Emergency Department RN at Kent Hospital. Her colleagues and friends remember her as a compassionate and skilled nurse who made a significant impact on everyone she met.
