Tragic Jet Ski Accident on Lacamas Lake Claims Life of Vancouver Woman

A devastating accident on Lacamas Lake in Camas, Washington, claimed the life of 48-year-old Angela Narciso of Vancouver after a collision between two jet skis. The tragic incident occurred on Thursday, August 8, around 7:11 p.m., prompting a 911 call that reported the collision and the subsequent rescue of Narciso from the water, according to the Camas-Washougal Fire Department and Camas Police Department.

Authorities revealed that both jet ski operators involved in the crash were acquaintances. During the accident, both Angela Narciso and a 10-year-old child were thrown into the water. Thankfully, both were wearing life jackets, which likely prevented further tragedy. A nearby boater quickly came to their aid, rescuing both Narciso and the child from the lake. While the child and the other jet ski operator were unharmed, Narciso’s condition was critical.

Emergency medical efforts were initiated immediately, and Narciso was transported to a local hospital. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, she was sadly pronounced dead upon arrival. The other jet ski operator, who remained at the scene, is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation led by the Camas Police Department, with assistance from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit.

The Camas Police Department is urging any witnesses to the incident who have not yet come forward to assist in the investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Sergeant Stefan Hausinger at (360) 817-1503 or via email at Stefan.hausinger@cityofcamas.us. The details surrounding the crash are still being investigated, with authorities seeking to understand how this tragic event unfolded.

Chief Tina Jones of the Camas Police Department expressed deep sorrow over the incident, stating, “We are deeply saddened to hear of this deadly outcome from what should have been a fun summer day on our beautiful lake. Condolences to the family and friends impacted by this loss.” Chief Jones also emphasized the importance of water safety, reminding the public to operate vessels cautiously, wear personal flotation devices, and stay informed on CPR and boater safety classes.

This heartbreaking accident serves as a sobering reminder of the dangers associated with water recreation. The loss of Angela Narciso has profoundly impacted her community, and authorities hope that increased awareness and adherence to safety protocols can help prevent similar tragedies in the future. The investigation into the incident continues as authorities seek to bring closure to the affected families and ensure the safety of those enjoying the region’s lakes and waterways.
