Drive-By Shooting at Houston Block Party Leaves Two Dead, Nine Injured

HOUSTON, TX — What began as a joyful block party in northeast Houston turned into a tragic scene of violence on September 14, 2024, when a drive-by shooting left two people dead and nine others injured. The deadly incident occurred at the intersection of Laura Koppe Road and Lockwood Drive, where a large crowd had gathered to celebrate.

A white pickup truck drove past the celebration, and occupants opened fire on the crowd. Two Black males in their 20s were fatally shot during the attack. One of the victims was identified by his family as 23-year-old Breon Stuard. The other man, who has yet to be named, was described by police as being in his early 20s.

In addition to the two lives lost, nine other people sustained injuries. Some were struck by gunfire, while others were hurt in the chaos as they tried to escape. According to investigators, multiple weapons were involved in the attack, as two different types of shell casings were found at the scene.

The truck involved in the shooting was last seen speeding west on Laura Koppe Road, heading toward I-59. Law enforcement is actively reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses and residences in an effort to identify the suspects. The motive for the attack remains unknown.
