Bronx Shooting Leaves 23-Year-Old Carlos Rivera Dead After Dispute

BRONX, N.Y. — A 23-year-old man, identified as Carlos Rivera, was fatally shot on Sunday afternoon in the Mount Hope neighborhood of the Bronx following a verbal altercation. The tragic incident has left the community in shock and authorities are now searching for the suspect who fled the scene.

The shooting took place on August 25, 2024, at approximately 2:52 p.m. According to the NYPD, officers responded to a 911 call reporting a person shot at 265 East 176th Street, located within the 46th Precinct. When they arrived, they discovered Rivera had been shot twice in the chest. Witnesses reported that the shooting occurred after a heated argument between Rivera and an unidentified individual.

Following the altercation, the shooter quickly fled the scene heading eastbound on East 176th Street. Rivera, who lived nearby at 1744 Clay Avenue, was urgently transported by EMS to Saint Barnabas Hospital. Despite efforts to save his life, he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
