      Motorcyclist Christopher Bernal Dies in Tragic Accident on State Route 9W in Highlands

The preliminary investigation revealed that 23-year-old Christopher Bernal was riding a 2004 Honda motorcycle northbound on SR 9W when he failed to navigate a curve, causing him to veer off the road and collide with a parked 2023 GMC Acadia that was occupied in a scenic pull-off.

      Despite the efforts of the Town of Highlands EMS, who quickly transported Bernal to St. Luke’s Hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. The front seat passenger of the GMC Acadia was also taken to St. Luke’s Hospital, fortunately with injuries that were not life-threatening.
