Cordell Tatney Identified as Victim killed in Fatal Columbus Shooting on Cleveland Avenue
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Columbus police have identified Cordell Tatney, a 28-year-old resident of North Linden, as the victim of a fatal shooting that took place on Monday afternoon, September 16, in the Northern Lights neighborhood. The shooting occurred on the 4200 block of Cleveland Avenue, just 1½ miles from Tatney’s home on Northridge Road.
According to a news release from Columbus homicide detectives, officers were dispatched to the scene around 2:45 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found Tatney suffering from a gunshot wound. Columbus Division of Fire medics responded quickly and transported Tatney to Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center. Despite their best efforts to save him, Tatney was pronounced dead at 4:02 p.m.
The circumstances leading to the shooting remain unclear, and no suspects have been identified at this time. Investigators are working diligently to gather evidence and speak with potential witnesses in the area. Police have not yet released information regarding any possible motives or whether the shooting was a targeted attack or a random act of violence.
