Louisiana State Police Seek Public’s Help in Fatal Hit-and-Run Investigation Involving Deasha Doucet

Louisiana State Police are appealing for public assistance in gathering information about a hit-and-run accident that tragically resulted in the death of a woman on the night of July 10. The victim, identified as 30-year-old Deasha Doucet from Denham Springs, was walking along LA 447 near Andrews Road in Livingston Parish when the incident occurred. This heartbreaking event has left her family and community seeking answers and justice.

The crash, involving two vehicles, happened just before 10 p.m. Doucet was walking south on LA 447 near the center of the southbound lane when she was struck by a southbound pickup truck. The driver of the pickup truck did not stop and continued traveling south on LA 447. This initial impact was severe, and the failure of the driver to stop and render aid has made the situation even more tragic.

Shortly after being struck by the pickup truck, Doucet was hit by a 2021 Kia K5. The driver of the Kia, who was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, immediately stopped to help and report the incident. Despite the quick response, Doucet sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The actions of the Kia driver, while commendable, unfortunately could not change the outcome for Doucet.

The driver of the Kia was uninjured in the crash, highlighting the importance of seatbelt use, but the focus remains on finding the driver of the pickup truck. Troopers are seeking information about the pickup truck, described as a gray or silver full-size Chevrolet pickup with damage to the front center portion of the vehicle. This description is crucial in narrowing down potential leads and finding the responsible party.

The Louisiana State Police emphasize the seriousness of this investigation. The hit-and-run nature of the crash adds a layer of urgency to the case, as leaving the scene of an accident is a severe offense. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the crash to come forward, stressing that even the smallest detail could be vital in solving the case. Witnesses or individuals with relevant information are encouraged to contact Louisiana State Police Troop A at (225) 754-8500.

As the investigation continues, the community of Denham Springs mourns the loss of Deasha Doucet. Her untimely death serves as a stark reminder of the dangers pedestrians face and the critical need for drivers to remain vigilant and responsible. The Louisiana State Police remain committed to finding justice for Doucet and her family, and they call on the public to assist in bringing closure to this tragic incident.
