Man Charged with Murder After Fatal Shooting Outside San Antonio Restaurant

SAN ANTONIO, TX — Police have arrested 33-year-old Franco Xavier Summers in connection with the fatal shooting of his girlfriend’s father, 43-year-old Christopher Fuentes, outside Taco Palenque on San Antonio’s North Side. The tragic incident occurred just after midnight on November 9 outside the restaurant on Blanco Road, near North Loop 1604 West.

According to the arrest report, security footage captured Fuentes as he approached a vehicle that had just arrived beside him. Fuentes appeared to engage in conversation with Summers, the driver of the vehicle. At one point, Fuentes reached into the car, attempting to grab Summers’ arm. As tensions mounted, Fuentes turned back to his daughter, signaling her to run, just before Summers opened fire, shooting Fuentes multiple times. Fuentes attempted to walk away but collapsed nearby. Summers quickly fled the scene in his vehicle, leaving Fuentes fatally injured.

Emergency responders arrived but were unable to save Fuentes, who was pronounced dead at the scene. In statements to police, Fuentes’ daughter provided additional context, explaining that earlier that evening, she, her father, and Summers had been at a nearby bar. An argument had broken out between Fuentes and Summers, prompting her and her father to leave the bar and walk to Taco Palenque to deescalate the situation.

However, Summers reportedly followed them in his vehicle, leading to the confrontation outside the restaurant. Authorities state that the confrontation escalated, ultimately resulting in the fatal shooting.

Summers now faces a murder charge, as well as other charges, including assault and evading arrest. He remains in custody at the Bexar County Jail while the investigation continues. The incident has left family members and friends in shock, as investigators work to gather more details on the events leading up to this tragic outcome.
