Opelika, Ala. — A domestic dispute turned violent early Saturday morning at 169 Bar and Grill in Opelika, resulting in a shooting that left a man injured. Heather Manning, a 38-year-old Opelika resident, has been charged with domestic violence and first-degree assault in connection with the incident.

According to Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones, deputies responded to the scene around 1:30 a.m. CST on September 1. Upon arrival, they found a 45-year-old male in the parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The man was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, though details about his current condition have not been disclosed.

Manning, who was present at the scene with the victim, was identified as the shooter and taken into custody. As of now, the name of the victim has not been released by officials, pending notification of family members.

Manning faces serious charges including one count of first-degree domestic violence and one count of first-degree assault. These charges indicate the severity of the attack, as first-degree domestic violence typically involves the use of a deadly weapon and can carry significant legal consequences if she is convicted.

They emphasized that the safety and well-being of their patrons and staff are their top priorities. The restaurant has not provided further comments on the ongoing investigation.
