      Fatal Motorcycle Collision Near Amarillo Claims Life of Jimmy Snider, Injures Another

      A tragic collision near Amarillo on Thursday night resulted in the loss of Jimmy Snider’s life and left another individual hospitalized. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the incident occurred at approximately 8:06 p.m. on July 4th at the intersection of South Western and West McCormick in Randall County.

      The crash involved a 2018 GMC Sierra traveling south on South Western and a 1978 Kawasaki KZ1000 motorcycle heading west on West McCormick. Preliminary reports from DPS suggest that the driver of the GMC, identified as 63-year-old Daniel Hamm from Ramona, Oklahoma, failed to yield the right of way at a stop intersection. This failure led to a collision with Snider’s motorcycle, causing devastating consequences.

      Jimmy Snider, 61 years old and a resident of Amarillo, tragically succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Randall County Justice of the Peace Tracy Byrd officially declared his passing. Meanwhile, Jean Snider, 56 years old and also from Amarillo, was the passenger on the motorcycle. She sustained severe injuries and was transported to Amarillo Northwest Texas Hospital in critical condition at the time of the DPS news release. It was noted that both individuals were wearing helmets during the crash.

      Miraculously, the driver of the pickup truck did not sustain any injuries. At the time of the collision, weather conditions were reported as clear, and the road surface was dry. The speed limit on the road where the incident occurred was 55 mph. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision to determine further details and any potential contributing factors.
