Kyler Naely charged for the murder in shooting death of Ja’Tycie Williams

Tulsa, OK — An 18-year-old suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with a deadly October shooting that claimed the life of a 16-year-old and left another injured. The suspect, identified as Kyler Naely, was taken into custody on November 19, 2024, following an extensive investigation by Tulsa Police.

The shooting occurred on October 6, shortly after 12:45 a.m., on I-244 near Yale Avenue. Responding officers found a gray SUV riddled with bullet holes and shattered windows. Investigators determined that seven people were inside the vehicle when the gunfire erupted.

Two occupants were struck by bullets. Ja’Tycie Williams, 16, sustained critical injuries and tragically succumbed to them several weeks later. Another passenger suffered a minor gunshot wound to the arm and survived.

Preliminary findings indicate the shooting was linked to a fight at the Tulsa State Fair earlier that evening. Witnesses reported that the altercation escalated as the group left the fairgrounds, leading to the tragic highway confrontation.

Tulsa Police Homicide Detectives identified Naely as the primary suspect after weeks of investigation. Naely now faces a first-degree murder charge and has been booked into the Tulsa County Jail.

“This was a senseless act of violence that took the life of a young person and impacted many others,” authorities stated. The investigation remains active as police work to uncover additional details surrounding the incident.

Law enforcement is urging anyone with further information to contact Tulsa Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS. Anonymous tips are welcomed as detectives continue to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting.

The death of Ja’Tycie Williams has left the Tulsa community mourning yet another young life lost to violence. As Naely awaits legal proceedings, the focus remains on seeking justice for the victims and preventing similar tragedies in the future.
