Laurion Magee killed in Walthall County shooting, four others wounded
A tragic shooting early Sunday morning in Sandy Hook, Mississippi, claimed the life of one person and left three others injured during a large social gathering. The incident unfolded in the Walthall County community, just over the Marion County line.
Walthall County Sheriff Kyle Breland stated that deputies responded to reports of gunfire shortly after midnight. Upon arrival, they discovered three individuals suffering from gunshot wounds.
One of the victims, identified as 23-year-old Laurion Magee, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body has been sent to the state medical examiner’s office for an autopsy. Two other victims were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The severity of their injuries has not been disclosed. Additionally, a fourth person required hospitalization, though it remains unclear if their injuries were caused by gunfire.
The gathering, described as a “large social event,” is believed to have been the setting for the shooting. Investigators are working diligently to reconstruct the events leading up to the violence. Walthall County Chief Investigator Justin Dyar emphasized the importance of witness cooperation in solving the case.
“We know there were a lot of people present at the event. If anyone has photographs, videos, or any information about what happened, we urge them to come forward,” Dyar stated.
