Taunton Woman Killed in Crash with Tractor Trailer on Route 44

TAUNTON, MA — A tragic accident early Sunday morning claimed the life of a 24-year-old Taunton woman, Mallory Humphreys, after the car she was riding in collided with the rear of a tractor trailer on Route 44. The crash, which occurred around 1:24 a.m., is under investigation by local authorities and the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.

Humphreys was a passenger in a gray 2015 Infiniti driven by a 27-year-old man from Fall River. According to the Bristol County DA’s preliminary investigation, the Infiniti was traveling east on Route 44 when it rear-ended the tractor trailer, which was also heading east. The incident took place near 608 Winthrop Street (Route 44), a heavily traveled area in Taunton.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the collision, but Humphreys was tragically pronounced dead on-site. The driver of the Infiniti was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities have not released further details about his condition.
