According to police reports, Garcia was driving a 1997 Ford F-150 on Cumberland Trace Road when his vehicle veered off course. The truck went through a fence and entered the northbound lanes of I-65, where it collided with a 2017 Freightliner truck driven by 35-year-old Abdiaziz Shirdon from Columbus, Ohio. The impact of the crash resulted in Garcia’s death at the scene.

Emergency responders arrived swiftly, but Garcia was pronounced dead on-site due to the severity of his injuries. Shirdon, the driver of the Freightliner, was transported to the Bowling Green Medical Center for treatment. Authorities have not yet released details regarding Shirdon’s condition.
