Monica Marie Soliz, 21, Identified as Victim killed in Tragic Pedestrian Accident – GoFundMe

The 21-year-old pedestrian who tragically lost her life on Saturday morning has been identified as Monica Marie Soliz, a veterinary assistant from Immokalee. On the fundraising platform, her mother described her as a bright, ambitious young woman who was still pursuing her education with aspirations of becoming a veterinarian. Monica was already a Certified Vet Assistant who adored animals and cared for her two cats as if they were her own babies.

According to Soliz’s Facebook profile, she had completed the veterinary assisting certificate program at Lorenzo Walker Technical College and was currently enrolled at Hillsborough Community College. Monica’s life was tragically cut short when she was hit by two vehicles on State Road 82, just south of Corkscrew Road, at 4:42 a.m. on July 6.

Law enforcement reports indicate that Soliz was walking in the westbound lane of State Road 82 when the first vehicle collided with her. Subsequently, the second vehicle, following closely behind the first, also struck her. The drivers of the vehicles involved in the accident were identified as a 63-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man, both from Immokalee. Fortunately, neither driver sustained any injuries.

Tragically, Soliz was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident is ongoing, as law enforcement officials work to understand the full details of the incident.
