      Nashville Mourns the Tragic Death of Teenager Owen Willers allegedly died by suicide

      The Nashville community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of 18-year-old Owen Willers, who passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2024. Owen’s death is attributed to an apparent suicide following a prolonged battle with depression and anxiety, leaving his family and friends devastated.

      Owen Nathaniel Willers was born on February 5, 2006, alongside his twin sister and best friend, Izzy. Despite being born three months early, Owen earned the nickname “Tank” for his incredible resilience, fighting his way out of the neonatal intensive care unit and into his parents’ loving arms. Known for his compassionate and kind nature, Owen was devoted, diligent, and sincere. He always put the needs of others before his own, embodying a heart of pure gold.

      Owen attended Montgomery Bell Academy, where he graduated on May 30, 2024. He had plans to attend Davidson College in the fall to study psychology and philosophy. During his time at MBA, Owen thrived academically and socially. He served as president of the school Honor Council in his senior year, after being a member for six years. Owen embraced brotherhood, worked hard, and deeply valued his friendships and teachers. It was at MBA that Owen discovered his passion for sketching, encouraged by his supportive art teachers.

      Outside of school, Owen found joy in various activities. He enjoyed laughing at his brother Charlie’s quick wit, spending hours working out at the gym, and listening to music. Owen was incredibly proud of his twin sister, Izzy, and always celebrated her achievements. He also had a soft spot for his dogs, George and Eddie, who were his constant companions.

      A Mass of Christian Burial for Owen Willers will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, located at 3001 Belmont Blvd. Brief remarks by the family will precede the mass at 9:45 a.m. The burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, 1001 Lebanon Pike, Nashville, TN 37210.

      The loss of Owen Willers is a profound tragedy that has touched the hearts of many. His legacy of kindness, compassion, and talent will forever be remembered by those who were fortunate enough to know him. As the community gathers to honor his memory, they extend their deepest sympathies to Owen’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.
