Durham Regional Police have identified the victim of a fatal domestic stabbing in Oshawa as 48-year-old Parween Adel. The tragic incident occurred early Saturday morning, November 17, at the couple’s home on Eulalie Avenue, near King Street East and Ritson Road South.
Police responded to a call around 12:30 a.m. and discovered Adel with severe stab wounds. Officers and paramedics performed CPR before rushing her to a trauma center in Toronto. Despite their efforts, Adel was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Authorities arrested her 41-year-old husband, Hakim Adel, at the scene without resistance. He has since been charged with second-degree murder. Police confirmed that the couple’s five-year-old twins and an elderly woman were present in the home during the incident, further intensifying the tragedy’s emotional toll on the family and community.
This devastating event coincides with November’s recognition as Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) Awareness Month. IPV includes a spectrum of abusive behaviors, such as physical violence, emotional manipulation, financial control, and social isolation. Adel’s death underscores the dangers of IPV and the urgent need to address it within relationships before violence escalates.
