81-Year-Old Salvatore Ciurcina Identified as Victim killed in East Hampton Fatal Crash

East Hampton Police Chief Dennis Woessner has identified the victim in Thursday’s tragic two-vehicle collision as 81-year-old Salvatore Ciurcina, a longtime resident of East Hampton. The fatal accident occurred at approximately 3:27 p.m. on East High Street, right in front of Paul & Sandy’s garden center, a popular local spot known for its annual “Pumpkintown USA” event that draws visitors from across the Northeast.

According to authorities, Ciurcina was driving a van when it collided with a pickup truck that was towing a trailer. The impact of the crash left Ciurcina critically injured, and despite being rushed to Hartford Hospital, he was later pronounced dead. The accident also injured both Ciurcina’s passenger and the driver of the pickup truck. Fortunately, their injuries were reported to be non-life-threatening, although their conditions were still being monitored as of Friday morning.

First responders, including emergency medical services and LifeStar, were quickly dispatched to the scene. However, due to adverse weather conditions in the region, the medical helicopter was unable to take flight, despite no rain having yet reached East Hampton at the time of the crash.
