Tragic Workplace Altercation Leads to Death of Samarian Lindsay in Rock Hill

Rock Hill, SC – The Rock Hill Police Department has reported a tragic incident that resulted in the death of 39-year-old Samarian Lindsay following an argument between coworkers that escalated on Wednesday. The incident occurred near Celriver Road on Riverwalk Parkway just after 3 p.m. on June 19. According to the York County Coroner’s Office, Lindsay was a resident of Rock Hill.

Upon receiving a call regarding a shooting, authorities arrived at the scene to find Lindsay with a gunshot wound to the chest. She was immediately transported to Piedmont Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead. A man was apprehended at the scene, and initial investigations suggest that the altercation began at their workplace, a nearby store.

The incident unfolded when Lindsay, after the argument, entered a vehicle driven by her girlfriend, 32-year-old Brittney Reed from Lancaster. As the man involved in the altercation attempted to leave in his own vehicle, Reed blocked his car with hers. Authorities report that Lindsay then approached the man’s window with a handgun, prompting him to draw his firearm and shoot her in what is believed to be an act of self-defense.

Reed intervened by punching the man in the face but ceased her actions when he yelled at her to leave. The man then waited for the arrival of the police. Initially, the man did not face charges as the shooting was deemed self-defense. However, Reed was arrested and charged with assault and battery.

In a turn of events, the following day, the police announced that Reed would also be charged with murder. This decision was based on evidence that she had brought the gun to the confrontation at Lindsay’s request, fully aware of the potential fatal consequences of blocking the man’s car.

Two firearms were discovered at the crime scene, and authorities are awaiting autopsy and toxicology reports, which are expected to be completed within the week. The Rock Hill Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
