      In a horrifying incident in Alameda, California, 54-year-old Shane Parrish Killian has been charged with the murder of his wife, her parents, and their six-year-old son, along with the attempted murder of their one-year-old son. The tragic event took place on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at an apartment located on the 400 block of Kitty Hawk Road.

      Authorities report that a domestic-related shooting erupted at the residence, resulting in the deaths of four individuals and leaving a young child critically injured. Shane Killian allegedly opened fire, killing his wife, Nathalie Killian, her parents, and their six-year-old son, William Killian. Their one-year-old son, Wesley James Killian, was also injured and is currently in critical condition at the hospital. A neighbor called 911, reporting that their neighbor had been shot. Upon arrival, police discovered three victims dead at the scene, while two others were transported to the hospital, where one later died.

      As of now, police have not provided a motive for the shooting. Shane Killian has been detained on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. A press release from the authorities stated that multiple firearms and significant evidence were recovered from the property. Alameda Police Chief Nishant Joshi addressed the media, condemning the act and calling it the actions of a coward. He also mentioned that the father-in-law made some statements before dying, which are currently under review.

      The victims of this tragic incident have been identified as Nathalie Killian, Shane’s wife; their six-year-old son, William Killian; and Nathalie’s parents. The critically injured one-year-old, Wesley James Killian, is fighting for his life in the hospital.       “This is a tragic and sad incident. And I’ll say this, these are the actions of a coward. I know what happened, I have some idea of what happened, and this person’s actions are those of a coward,” said Alameda Police Chief Nishant Joshi during a press briefing. He further added that body-worn cameras might have captured crucial evidence. Officers found the father-in-law outside the house, who provided statements before succumbing to his injuries. The remaining victims were found inside the residence.

      Shane Parrish Killian, a resident of Alameda, California, originally hailed from Murphy, North Carolina. He graduated from Murphy High School and was a certified welder from Tri-County Community College. He studied Construction Engineering and Management at Purdue University and Pre-Engineering at Western Carolina University. According to reports, the shooting followed a domestic altercation at the home of Nathalie Killian’s parents.
